Mail Merge Font Problems

I'm struggling to figure out how to maintain formatting of merged items when I try to do a mail merge in Word 2013 from an Excel file in 2013.

I'm using a custom font and for some unknown reason the merged data font changes on me.

I've tried using the \* Charformat fix with no success.

I've tried changing the style of the sheet as well as starting over and can't seem to make it work.

Am I missing anything?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The \* Charformat switch causes a field to format its results in whatever font properties are applied to the first character in the field. Did you apply such formatting to at least the 'M' of the mailmerge field's 'MERGEFIELD' parameter? Changing formats in the source file will not help.

Without the \* Charformat switch, the field will ordinarily display its output in the underlying paragraph Style used in the document. If you've overridden that Style with hard formatting, the format you've applied may not 'hold' for the field through the merge - you should update the Style instead.
