Hi,

  How do I make fixed column widths the default for autofit in Word 2010?

You can add the Fixed Column Width command to the Quick Access Toolbar, if that helps (File | Options | Quick Access Toolbar). You'll find it if you first select "All Commands" in the "Choose commands from" drop down.

Alternatively, if you are trying to save a table with specific column widths, you can create a Building Block entry for it. For example, you can do the following to see your table "template" in the Quick Parts gallery: Format an "example table" the way you want it, select it and then click Insert | Quick Parts | Save Selection to Quick Part Gallery.
