Domain Not Working

Hi

I have added my domain (XXX.xyz) to my Sharepoint Site. I followed the instructions and the process was reported as complete.

However, putting the URL into my browser gives an error. I assumed it needed time to propagate, but 48 hours later it still doesn't work. Email is still going to my 'old' mailbox.

Any suggestions please?

Many thanks

Bill Edwards

    Hi Richard,

I would like to first explain that new customers who subscribe to Office 365 after the changeover date of March 9th, 2015 won't have access to the SharePoint Online Public Website feature. Read more information at changes to the SharePoint Online Public Website feature in Office 365. If it is your scenario, we would suggest you turn to your website host provider for help. If not, please clarify your current situation.

Now, let’s focus on the issue that you can’t receive emails. Please provide the following information for further troubleshooting:

    1. Regarding “Some email is arriving in my inbox when I look in my Office Email App.”, do you mean Outlook Web App (https://outlook.office.com/owa/)can receive some emails?
    2. Use another email address to send a test email to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and check if you can receive an NDR (non-delivery report). If so, please provide the detailed information via PM.
    3. Run a message trace to see if you can find the missing email via https://technet.microsoft.com/enus/library/jj200668(v=exchg.150).aspx.

I have sent you a private message to collect  the NDR. Please check  and reply to it via the steps below:

    1. Go to the Your details section on the right side of the community site.
    2. Click Private messages.
    3. Click the subject title of the response to read the message.

    Any updates will be appreciated.

    Sky

I'd really appreciate some help with this. I am losing email!

    1. Some email is arriving in my inbox when I look in my Office Email App. However, some is bouncing and not arriving. I've no idea how much I am losing at the moment.
    2. Where should my domain name show when it is put in a browser? I can't believe that it should show an error page.
    3. Where can I find the settings to check my email via an email client so I don't have to login to Office and check OWA? .

    Please help!!

I do own the domain, it is paid for.

I am now confused. If I cannot use my domain name to direct people to the site, what was the purpose of transferring it in?

If I wanted my domain to redirect to an error page, I could have done that myself!

If that's correct then everyone else who has transferred their domain name gets an error page? To what purpose?

My user name is now *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

My mailbox is set up, but the email isn't arriving

    hi richard,

according to your description, do you want to use the url yournewdomain.sharepoint.com to access your team site? if yes, i’d like to explain that the url of the team site is designed by default after you sign up for an office 365 account. we can only use the url**initialdomain.sharepoint.com** to access it. however, if you have a public website, you can rename your sharepoint online public website address to use your custom domain.

regarding email is still going to my 'old' mailbox, i’d like to confirm if you have changed user name with the new domain. you can go to office 365 admin center ->active users -> your account -> edit. on the pop-up window, edit user name with the new domain. here are two screenshots for your reference.

maybe caused by the ".xyz" domain service provider

is your domain a paid one? Based on my experience, for some free top domain service provider, the DNS propagate process would be some longer

suggest you to buy a ".xyz" or ".com" domain
