Font Rendering in Excel 2016

I have Office 2011 and Office 2016 on the machine. Excel does some weird stuff with fonts, including scrambling the order of text as you edit it.

I have made an image of the font rendering side by side here:

At this scale, the two look just as fuzzy as each other, but on-screen the Excel 2011 version is much easier and clearer on the eye.

Additionally, Excel 2016 is scrambling text as I edit it - moving individual characters around.

Have to agree, font rendering in Excel is really subpar. Fonts look jagged, especially fonts with "light" weights...like Calibri Light. In Excel 2011, everything is smooth but my spreadsheet looks terrible in Excel 2016.

The shots above are on a non-retina iMac. I'll try the same test at home using my Retina Macbook and see how it compares.

Do you have a Mac with Retina Display? If not that what you should expect.  2016 is tuned for Retina Display or is supposed to. However 2011 was written before Retina display existed. Though some support was added not to extent in 2016. Therefore non Retina Display Mac will look not so good.

As for the letter (character) swapping. Don't know what is causing that.
