Import slides from another presentation

I attempted to insert a powerpoint presentation into the new Mac 2016 version.  It imports the text only on a white background.  No options exist for me to maintain the original formatting.  Am I missing something?

Using Insert>Slide from>Other Presentation usually superimposes the present template on the slides you are importing.

Instead, open the presentation from which you want to import the slides, copy and paste them, then click on the down-pointing arrowhead to the right of the Paste button:

It's also possible, after pasting, to click on the clipboard icon in the lower corner of the left-hand slide list, though some users have more trouble getting this to appear:

When you're pasting separate objects rather than whole slide, look for the small pasteboard icon that appears in the lower right of the pasted object and choose Keep Source Formatting:

Microsoft made this harder than it should be and than it was in Office 2011.

John's solution below is what works, though you have to import the entire other presentation and then manually delete the sides that you don't want.

Instead, open the presentation from which you want to import the slides, copy and paste them, then click on the small pasteboard icon that appears in the left-hand slide sorting and choose Keep Source Formatting.

In Mac OS El Capitan and Office 2016 (365), the "Keep Source Formatting" option is gone (or at least I can't find it). Also, in PP 2013, when you selected "Insert Slide - Other Presentation," a window opened that allowed you to select slides. Then you could insert them, keep source formatting or not, and then select other slides without having to select "Insert Slides" again.

Is the feature gone, or am I missing something else?

Thanks, John.  The previous version allowed you to indicate that you wanted to preserve the original appearance when you selected the file.  But I found your solution by accident.  Thanks for responding!!
