What ActiveX are you trying to insert? There are very, very few ActiveX controls that work with 2010, and just because it's on the listing provided by Access does not mean it's compatible.
Error when inserting ActiveX control
Hi
I am working in Microsoft ACCESS 2010 and trying to insert an activeX control in a Form but it is showing error that "The operation on the OLE object failed. The OLE server may not be registered. To register OLE server, reinstall it".
I tried to reinstall MS ACCESS and MS OFFICE 2010, repaired MS OFFICE 2010 but still issue is same.
Please give me some suggestion/solution for this issue. Thanks in advance.

2016-01-20T13:04:32+00:00 I agree with Scott McD. But before you can use an ActiveX control with Access, it has to be registered as a Reference. This may be done when you first install the control. But it will need to be activated either in code or by checking it off as a Reference from the VBE->Tools->References.
The error message you are getting indicates it hasn't been registered in the Registry. You may have to go back to vendor of the control for details on how to install it.

2016-01-20T13:53:59+00:00 Hi
There are various ActiveX controls are available in MS ACCESS 2010. I tried to insert following :-
-Microsoft Forms 2.0 checkbox/ComboBox/CommandButton/Image/Label/All Microsoft Forms 2.0 controls.
I tested to insert more controls, getting same issue with :-
-Microsoft Animation Control 6.0 (SP6)/ DataGrid control 6.0(SP6)/common dialogue control 6.0 (SP6)/All SP6 controls.

2016-01-20T14:04:50+00:00 Hi Scottgem,
I am able to find "Tools" section in ACCESS 2010 but could not found "References". I am using MS ACCESS 2010 in an intranet environment and as per my knowledge there is no vendor available for these controls.

2016-01-20T14:09:13+00:00 The first one you mention inserts fine for me (so there seems to be a problem with your installation), but I would say that none of the first group should ever be used in an Access form. Use the native checkbox etc.
For grids you should use a subform in datasheet or continuous view, again a native control.
For common dialogs there are a few options (I always use Windows API calls).
ActiveX controls should only be used by those who really, really know what they are doing, know the problems they often present, and are willing and able to deal with them. They are NOT simply some extra toolbar items you can choose from.
