Help creating a Chart with a colour coded background

I'm trying to create a chart that looks like this.  The areas of performance are shaded in the background whilst the actual result is charted over time.  I cant find anything like it.  Someone must have done it before. Perhaps I'm struggling with the name for it which is why I cannot find one.

    Hello,

    some people call it a banded background. You can do this in Excel by combining an area chart with a line chart. 

    You need a data set for the stacked area chart to create the bands, and another set of data for the line (or column) chart in the foreground.
