Cannot add new column to table.

I was able to add a new column to the right of the existing two but it extends to the border of the paper.

How do I get it to stop at the margin?

I added another column but it doesn't show although it shows up in Table Properties.

Changing widths did not bring the column to be visible.

I thought I could click in the table and see margin controls at the top but no.....

If I click on properties, I select center and all my information disappears and the table gets all queer.

I tried to add a column to the right but it did not show.

I try it again but I am told that the width limit would be exceeded.

Dragging column widths does not bring in the 4th column.

What is the magic hidden secret?

Autofit Windows gave me the column but then I had one row per page.

I tried AutoFit Contents and it gave me what I wanted.

It would be interesting to see what Autofit Windows was supposed to do.

AutoFit Window is supposed to resize the table width so that it fits the width of the container (page, newspaper column, text box etc.). Occasionally, this fails, and I haven't been able to figure out when this happens. However, you can manually set the table width to 100% (in the Table Properties dialog box) which should fix the problem. Afterwards, you may want to click AutoFit | Fixed Column Width.

Also, make sure that the document is displayed in Print Layout view for tables to appear properly.

On the Layout tab of the contextual Table Tools tab, in the AutoFit group, click the arrow and choose AutoFit Window.
