Microsoft Project 2016 - Visual Reports - problems with template

I recently upgraded to Microsoft Project 2016.  I appreciated the many improvements.  In particular, I used the Visual Reports.  One in particular, cash flow by quarter, was exactly what I was looking for.  That worked for a while - but now it does not.  For example, "cumulative cost" is not properly calculated in the excel worksheet, and thus not shown correctly in the graph.  I tried creating my own new template, but it seems to want to default to by year, and I cannot figure out how to convert to by quarter.

My sense is that the template was changed, or there is a "temporary" file which is not allowed to be overwritten. However, I cannot locate where these templates are stored (it's actually ADR8).  I've also cleared temporary files using Norton.  

I do like the "cash flow" report which Project calculates - but need to export to Excel for other use. 

Any ideas?
