Split from this thread.

W7 x64 Home Premium HP dv6t Pavilion laptop

There was a complete meltdown last night when I closed FF 38.  These are the only Event Items I couldn't fix.  I had resolution/graphic card/audio/Outlook 2013/UAC/desktop icons missing errors.  Does anyone know if Norton's patches this past weekend is causing these errors?  I ran a full scan 6/22/15 8 am. and no viruses/malware.

 Windows 10 report was ran on 6/11/15 and said everything was ok for upgrade and now this has happened.  But the report still showing everything is ready for upgrade.

    I understand that work-arounds are not the answer to a permanent fix, but we have roughly 5000 systems and if the online repair is not time feasible then this helps. Hopefully you can run vbs scripts on your system. You must be in the script’s directory in order to run it and possibly admin rights, but I've always have been able to run on any system.

    NOTE: This is for the Volume License Edition

    Run --> cmd

    Cd C:\program files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16

    Cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus (will tell you how many days you have left!)

    Cscript ospp.vbs /act (will activate your Office, which in turn allows more time to fix and get your job done!)

    Hope this helps to at least get you back up and running. If you wish to see all of the command arguments the you can run the OSPP.vbs /? And it brings up a really nice page to reference. I actually turned it into a PowerShell script to help automate it - simple but effective :) .  If interested :

    cls

    cd'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16'

    view License Information

    Invoke-Command{cscriptospp.vbs/dstatus}

    Just a few second pause to view the license

    Start-Sleep-Seconds4

    Reactivate Office

    Invoke-Command{cscriptospp.vbs/act}

    cd$Home

    I thought Norton was going to support Windows 10 incompatibility issues?  According to the email I received from Norton they would be supporting the changes needed to run Windows 10.

    I was reading on a Frequently Asked Questions yesterday for Windows 10 (Microsoft site) that the anti-virus software for older versions of Windows would have to be updated for Windows 10. Don't know if you updated yours but just throwing that out there.

    Mohan,

    Already did it.  This Event happened after doing repair on Office 2013 Student or maybe something else caused it, because Level 2 tech at  Microsoft Support had to install and reinstall Office to get Outlook to work. Also seeing a security issue and running Norton for the last 3 yrs.  Did a full scan and no viruses. Also after closing FF 38 browser over weekend at about midnight noticed some other issues that popped out.  Most of those issues have been fixed except for the wifi icon on tool bar.  It is connected but there is something over the bars of the wifi connection.  Going to check Services to see if something was disabled that night.  I haven't disabled any Services, but after this weekend Java Updates was trying to run and it has been disabled since 2012? Also received a Windows Update for IE 10 that weekend and tried to hide but it kept coming back in install critical list.  I'm thinking could it be Windows 10 is trying to smooth out everything on laptops running W7 x64?  Even though compatibility report on 6/9/15 said everything was OK and set for install on 7/29/15 after running on 6/5/15 it was showing wifi, sound, and Norton compatibilities issues and may not work after upgrade to Windows 10.
