Excel selects wrong row sometimes

I'm using Excel from Office 2016 on a Mac with Mavericks

Problem: sometimes when I try to select a cell or row, Excel selects the row above. It will do this for a while and I have to offset my selections. Eventually it returns to normal. Then later it may start again. This happens in multiple spreadsheets and has been happening since I upgraded to 2016 some months ago.

    Thanks Jim!

You're not going to believe this but all I had to do was go to "View" then change from "Page Layout" to "Normal" and everything started working great! The application was also about 10 times faster.

I can't believe I have been battling this for months and that was all it took. Hopefully this will work for others as well.

Thanks to everyone that has been responding to this thread!

This also happens to me quite frequently and only resolves itself by selecting another sheet or zoom level. I haven't been able to pin point the exact actions that lead to this bug, but copying, pasting and inserting rows generally seems to bring about this highly frustrating bug.

I can't change Page Layout to 'Normal' because it is already in 'Normal' mode, and the defect is still apparent.

Anyone who thinks that just using 'Normal' view will eradicate the problem, will find out pretty soon that this was just another false dawn.

Thank you.  I did connect with MS support and they suggested changing the zoom to get the behavior to go away. Not a great work around since you have to do it every time you have the issue, but it is something to help.
