Unable to insert PDF object into document

Good afternoon,

I've recently been unable to insert PDF files into Word 2010 as an object. I always seem to get the below error message;

This function has been working fine until late last week when I tried to attach my PDF files and this error message popping up. This would usually end up in me having to end task from task manager because the file would stop responding. I've tried restarting Word 2010 and the computer but the problem still persists. There are no issues in inserting other documents such as word docs or excel docs as objects.

Are there any settings I could tweak in order to fix this?

Thanks so much!

    Hello Gavin,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.

    Few more details would help us to provide a better response.

    Does this issue occurs while inserting PDF files in all documents or is it specific to particular document?

    I suggest you to start the computer in clean boot mode and then try to open Word, insert PDF file and check if it works as expected.

    Starting the computer in clean boot mode would disable all the non-Microsoft applications and the antivirus which could be one of the reason for the issue.

    Refer the article below to start the computer in clean boot.

    **Disclaimer:**Ensure to restart the computer in normal mode after completing the troubleshooting steps.

    Hope this information helps. Post back with updated issue details for further help.

    Thank you.
