No encoding options when converting to plain text

Hi

I'm trying to save a Word 2013 document in plain text format using ANSI or Unicode UTF, but when I get to the File Conversion box no options are listed under Other Encoding (so I have to use either the Windows (Default) or the MS-DOS option. I've tried clicking on Other Encoding, but the moment I do Word crashes (I get the Microsoft has Stopped Working message) and restarts. Can anybody tell me what the problem might be, and what I can do about it?
