Why cannot go to hyperlink using CTRL + Click in Word 2010?

I have tried solutions from existing posts but without luck. I have set up hyperlinks to various websites in Word 2010 and they are all blue and underlined, but when I use CTRL b+ Click I get the following message.

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

As I am the owner and only user I am the system administrator, running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.

I could not find the Office button referred to in some of the replies to similar questions and opening Word in safe mode had no effect.

Have you looked at http://www.slipstick.com/problems/this-operation-has-been-cancelled-due-to-restrictions/ (the first result if you search for this error message)? The solution is for Outlook but I believe applies to Word as well.

As you'll see from this and other pages, the solution is a Registry edit. If you are leery of editing the Registry yourself, there's a Fixit at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/310049 (despite the disclaimer about Word 2003 at the top, the "Applies to" lists all versions up to 2013).
