Hi,

When I use Text Import Wizard in Excel 2016, by some reason I have only 2 options for encoding: Macintosh and Windows (ANSI). They do not encode .txt files I had regularly encoded with Excel 2010 and I'm not able to work with the file. Please advise on how to add regular encoding options to Excel 2016. Thank you!

    Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.

I suggest you to change the list separator to comma (,) under Region settings and check if importing text file work as expected in Excel.

To do so, kindly refer to the below mentioned steps and check if it helps.

     1. Determine if 'Use system separators' is selected in Excel options. From the File menu select Options. Select Advanced. In the 'Editing options' group determine if 'Use system separators' is unselected. If it is unselected you can select it to have Excel use the Windows Regional settings or specify the 'Thousands separator' you want to use.

If the 'Use system separators' is enabled then look in the Region (Regional) Settings in the Windows Control Panel. The list separator is specified in the Additional settings.

    1. Use the same character as the designated list separator in Windows settings (coma (,) in your case).
    2. Use the Reset button to reset the options to match the default for the selected country or modify the Windows List Separator to a different character (some special characters cannot be used).

Hope the information helps. Do reply if you need further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.
