Office 2016 Pro Plus - Cannot install updates, "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system"

Hello,

on my Windows 10 PC I recently updated Office 2013 to Office 2016 Professional Plus (x64) .

I noticed that my WSUS server has Office 2016 updates, but they are all with status "Not applicable" on every pc, included mine.

To check what is wrong, I downloaded the KB2910972 from Office Update, and trying to install it i receive the error for "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system".

I also tried to run the fix installation with the "PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1" parameter; the installation runs, but in the fact nothing is installed.

Seems that Office 2016 is "not installed" in some "way", despite it is actually installed, running, and results into "Programs and features".

Same issue with another PC with Office 2016, this one on Windows 8.1

Any idea?

Thanks.

Max

Ok, is not an issue: my Office 2016 installation it is a "Click to Run" (C2R) version, and this version is not updated via WSUS.

To identify if Office 2016 is C2R or MSI based, you need to look into File, Account in any Office application.

If (like mine) you see an "Update Option" item it is a C2R installation; otherwise, if that option is missing and you see only the "About" item then your installation it is a "MSI" based installation.

Thank you anyway.

    Hello,

no reason, and yesterday I also tried to completely uninstall Office 2016 x64, installing the x86 version.

But the issue with updates still persists, I am actually unable to install any Office 2016 update.

    Thank you.

Do you have the specific Excel requirement that needs Office 64bit?
