Default window size

When I start MS Word 2003 or open a document from within MS Word, the window size is 14 inches wide by 8 inches tall.  I want to change it so that whenever I open MS Word or a document, it is 14 inches wide by 11.5 inches tall.  How do I set the default window size for MS Word 2003?

I don't want the window to be maximized.

To add to what Suzanne said, if you have multiple windows open, make sure that you close the one with the desired dimensions last (when ending the current Word session). That way, height and width should be correctly saved for the next time you start Word.

What you describe suggests a damaged registry entry. Follow the instructions to delete the Data and Options key, as explained in the Knowledge Base article at http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/921541. Note that doing this will wipe out many customizations that you may have done in dialog boxes, and you will have to change them back manually.

Thanks Suzanne and Stefan for your responses.  Much appreciated.  I tried both several times and neither worked.

Generally speaking, Word should open the next time the size it was when you closed it.
