I am tormented by my cursor suddenly diving downwards taking all the document with it when using Word (Windows 7).

I can hardly complete a document at present. Also at the same time multiple Word documents start opening up until it crashes!!  I have AVG and Malwarebytes anti virus and scans have shown nothing. Please help!!

    Mohan,

    Thank you.

    Answering your questions:

    (a) It was also happening with Hotmail.

    (b) Using Desktop.

    (c) Multiple opening, haphazard. When I force shut down because nothing is working I am told something like "38 programmes to close" and their all Word documects.

Now I haven't had a chance to try safe mode because the problem has now disappeared! This happened about a year ago as well for a week or so then it self resolved.

    Geoff

    Hello Geoffrey,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

To resolve this issue we need more information. Let us know the following.

    1. Is this issue happening with Word 2010 only or do you experience same or similar issues with other Office 2010 applications as well?
    2. Are you working on a laptop/notebook or desktop computer? Check if the laptop/notebook touchpad gets accidentally pressed while working in Word 2010 causing this issue.
    3. About the issue with multiple Word documents opening, do the documents open on their own? Does this happen randomly or is this a continuous issue?

In case the issue occurs with Word 2010 only and is not associated with laptop/notebook touchpads then check if the issue occurs in Word Safe Mode. Follow the steps as shown on the following Microsoft Resource article to open Word 2010 in the Safe Mode.

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/why-cant-i-start-my-office-2013-application-HA104011864.aspx

Note - The above article lists steps for all Microsoft Office 2010 and Office 2013 applications, however, follow the steps to open Word 2013 in the Safe Mode as the same steps apply for Word 2010 as well.

Check now if Word works fine in the Safe Mode without the issues you were faced with.

In case the issue resolves while working in the Word Safe Mode, then follow the next set of steps as mentioned in the above article to troubleshoot COM Add-Ins. Check if the issue resolves by effectively disabling/removing the COM Add-ins. In case the issue does not resolve by disabling/removing COM Add-ins then check under Word Add-ins.

Once the issue is resolved, make sure to close Word Safe Mode and reopen normally.

Try the above steps and let us know the result.

    Thank you.
