Today i saved an existing .docx file in word 2016 for the first time, a notification popped up about saving in the latest format and i said ok to it.  Now in edit/print view every row of the form/table is on a separate page. in reading mode/outline/web/other views the form/table looks completely fine, but in print layout and editing mode each row of the table appears on its own separate page.  please help! i've spent an hour looking around and trying different changes to settings but nothing seems to work.

I see the issue in 32-bit Word 2013 and 2016 running under Windows 10 and also in 64-bit Word 2016 running under Windows 7.  I do not however see it in Word 2010.

In Word 2016, if I convert the table to text, the text from each row of the table is on a separate page.

However, if I use Table Tools>Layout>Select>Table and copy the table and the paste it into a new document, the problem disappears.

As selecting and copying the table in that way would have left behind the final paragraph mark in the document, I conclude that the problem was caused by some form of corruption in the original document.

I had something similar happen to another doc, but saving in 2016 for the first time inserted some long deleted image into the header. that i managed to figure out and fix.

Are you allowed to share the document? In that case, upload it to OneDrive or Dropbox, make it public and post a link in this thread. I'll have a look.

Select a row that starts a new page. On the Home tab, click the dialog launcher button on the bottom right of the Paragraph group. If "Page break before" is selected, clear the option. Repeat this procedure for the other rows of the table.

Alternatively, there could be a page or section break between the rows (which would split the table into multiple one-row tables). To find out, display nonprinting marks, for example by clicking the ¶ button on the Home tab.
