Undo problems in Word for Mac

Split from this thread.

I'm experiencing the same problem here with the latest version: 15.20. When I undo, it goes several steps back and if I try to redo to get my changes back - I am unable to (icon is disabled).

This is so frustrating because I am so used to using the undo button, I almost do it without thinking about. It has taken me several steps back so many times!

What would the process you have suggested look like for Mac OS X?

In the mean while, see if using the built-in keyboard shortcut works correctly for you: Command+z

Not good with it mangling last night. I haven't heard anything, but its possible they did a hotfix that fixed things. Since Office is all connected, that can happen periodically, without an actual update required.

Lets hope it sticks and stays.

Thanks.

After last night's reinstallation of 15.41, I had a catastrophic failure that mangled my paper this morning. It wasn't as simple as undo-ing a bunch of steps. It also reformatted some text into a new font, changed some section breaks to different types, moved the position of the abstract in the paper I was writing in a way that I couldn't change it back. Then, magically, Word started behaving. It's done well since about 10:00 AM today, though I don't know why.

In Word, please check Word>About Word. You should be at 15.29 minimum. If your version is less than that, please choose Help>Check for Updates to install a newer version.

If you do have a current version installed, please click on the small smiley-face icon in the upper-right corner of the program window, choose Tell Us What Can Be Better and describe the issue in detail. Submitting will send the bug report to the Mac programming team.
