OneNote for Android and Dropbox

Question

Does anybody know how to use OneNote on an Android device and save to /read files from Dropbox? Microsoft is advertising this capability for OneNote for Android but my OneNote apps - on both Android phone and tablets - don't appear to have this ability.

Continued, persistent sync problems with OneDrive and my android devices are making the OneNote /OneDrive combination non-usable.  If I can't get Dropbox to work with onenote on Android then I'll have to give up on onenote on my android devices.

The latest OneNote app for Android doesn't provide an option for directly reading/writing files from/to Dropbox.

I assume you are not talking about fies you append to or save from a note in OneNote but of OneNote storing its notebook files on Dropbox instead of OneDrive? That most likely will not happen as the synchronisation mechanism of OneNote is basically built around OneDrive. OneNote is not even working with files which you could copy, move or the like. On OneDrive you just see links to the hidden data. So there is nothing you could save to Dropbox.

The only alternative to OneNote which you will come across is Evernote. You will learn that one uses its own cloud storage as well and won't let you save on Dropbox.

Is that something that will change?  Strategically it doesn't seem to make sense that Excel, Word, etc work fine but OneNote doesn't work. 

I am now looking for alternatives to OneNote for my team because this doesn't work.  Thank you.
