OneNote changes my default font settings

I have the setting Style on "Normal" and every time that I hit enter, the font automatically changes to Calibri 11.  Additionally, I have the default settings for OneNote preferences set for "Veranda 12."  And still, everytime that I hit enter, the default changes.

Lastly, I have tried calling the support lines and am told that they cannot help me over the phone, and my only remedy is to post a message with this online board.  Obtaining assistance from Microsoft is getting frustrating because telling me to go online community to  continue to review message boards to figure out to do something, when I have already done so - and can't figure out the problem already.   Is there a phone number or someone at Microsoft that is able to assist me?

"If you already have text, hitting enter, just uses the format from the previous paragraph and applies it to the new paragraph."

When you hit enter, it many times DOES NOT use the format from the previous paragraph. That is the crux of the issue. If it did keep the previous paragraph formatting on every return, then that would solve the problem. But sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

When the carriage return does change to some other font (other than the page formatted font or the previous paragraph font), it is usually (but not always) the hard default font of Calibri 11, but never to my preferences default font. However, sometimes it will change to Times Roman or something else, which I believe it is affected by pasting. If I have ever pasted anything into the page and reformatted, then it will change to that font on every carriage return, even if I have reformatted the entire page to my desired font.

Shift return will work for only that return, but you must remember to use shift for every single return thereafter, or undo and shift return.

Also, when I put my cursor at the end of a paragraph and delete the carriage return to join with the next paragraph, it will change the font of the entire appended portion. Same thing will happen if I put my cursor and the beginning of the next paragraph and backspace into the previous paragraph.

I have seen discussions going back to 2012 on this bug and I myself have been waiting and hoping a very long time for fix. Please fix it!

The setting of a default font is used for all new pages and any existing page that does not have any text.

Basically the way it works is that when you create a new text block, if no font is defined, then it uses the default font.

If you already have text, hitting enter, just uses the format from the previous paragraph and applies it to the new paragraph.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my concern. However, your response does not fix the problem. My current text is in Veranda font (format from the previous paragraph), then I hit enter and the font is changed to Calibri font (not the default font, nor the font from the previous paragraph). Based off of your reasoning about the previous paragraph font, I  selected the entire document (ctrl+A) and changed the font to Veranda, to ensure that the entire document was set in Veranda font.  But this does not impact the outcome, as the continued result is calibri font.

I have never had so many problems with Microsoft.  Wish there was a support team that could assist beyond a message board.

    Hi,

I have the same problem so I google it and found this quote. It's very annoying to be honest and I spent sometimes playing with the text format.

My problem is the same as yours that the font keep changing after I hit the enter button.

So, I hit SHIFT+ENTER, onenote will enter a new line with the same format from above. After that, I hit only ENTER button, and it works !

    That's in my case.

    Regards,
