Insert/cut Function graded out after acessing Income Tax file

Hey,

This is more specific issue with Excel 2013 in India. We open a file which is related to income tax return and close it. After that we open any other excel 2013 file or even 2010 file, either the insert option or the cut option or any other option is graded out.

However this only happens in case of right click. the shortcut keys work fine. This has been reported by at least 20 employees in our office.

I have already tried with following:

  1. advanced settings in Excel 2013.
  2. Changing settings in regedit
  3. Rename %appdata%\Microsoft\local: Excel15.xlb

When I tried with Excel.xlb rename option it got resolved. But again when the income tax file was opened the same issue continued.

Any recommendation for troubleshooting?

This will not stop as Income Tax File is the culprit. If you open this file, this will change your .xlb file. The developer of Income Tax File (probably not under your control and you may not be able to do something about this) needs to correct this problem.

The recourse is to rename or delete your .xlb file every time you want greyed out option to reappear.

Vijay's reply has been the most helpful so far.

While I was preparing my Income tax return in July 2015, in my right click menu cut and delete functions got greyed out. I must have spent more than 100 hours to find a solution but without success.

However, in November, when I purchased a new computer and reinstalled my MS Office in the new computer the problem got resolved. However, as soon as I opened my Income Tax file and enabled the content, the problem reoccurred.

It is a very annoying problem.

I plan to write to the Finance Minstry about it and who knows they may bring this problem to the notice of the developer.

If if in the meanwhile someone finds a solution to this problem, it will be great if he shares it with us.
