Below are steps I've taken to enable automatic backup of an Excel workbook. However, current version is visible when I try to open the workbook. Is there an issue with automatic backup setting in Excel 2016?

STEPS FOR ENABLING AUTOMATIC BACKUP

  1. Go to File > Save As.
  2. Click "More options…" under the save location.
  3. Click the Tools button then General Options in the Save As dialog window.
  4. Check the box next to "Always create backup"
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Save in the Save dialog window.

I meant to say that current version of workbooks are visible in OneDrive, but not backup versions (both are visible when workbooks are saved to hard drive of PC. File name extensions are enabled. I am a using Office 2016 (not Office 365) and Windows 10.

Hi.  It saved ok to OneDrive for me.

I'm not sure what the question is:  "...However, current version is visible "

I would think that one "Would" want the current version visible.

Seems like the backup  worked fine.  You have your "Test" file, and "Backup of Test" file.

In File Explorer, go to the view tab, and enable "File Name Extensions"

You should see that the "Backup of Test" has an ".xlk" file extension.  This is Excel's Backup file extension name.

You should also see it in the "Type" column.

Does OneDrive Support Backup? Is there a setting that I need to change in OneDrive?
