Cursor properties within a table have changed

I have 2 documents with tables that should have the same properties. The little black arrow that selects columns or cells in the tables is correct in one document but not in the other. The second document has that arrow but only outside the table. Inside the second table the cursor within the cells is like a thin letter I with some small lines after it. I can not get the screenshot to copy/paste with the cursors showing. The problem comes when we need to select cells for highlighting. The cells show up with thin lines through them and don't fill completely (probably a second issue). I've looked at the settings of both documents and can't find something that looks different or that would help. Thank you

If you want to send me a copy of the document with the problem table, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

    Doug,

It is very kind of you to offer. I would be happy to email the docs to you but I don't feel that this issue is worth taking up your time. I hoped this was something that I just couldn't figure out like a margin setting or something. The simple solution for me is to use the table favored by my secretary as a master and duplicate it for other days. I appreciate your offer.

    Donna

    Is the table perhaps nested?

I don't believe the table is nested. It is just simple. The copy/paste I put here is missing some of the lines...that's odd. I think I will have to copy the chart that works and use it for the days. Still, any ideas will help. Thanks
