Microsoft word error

I keep getting a message that states an error occured while trying to open a word document, I've selected the repair now option and it does not good.  This is on all my word documents.  I am unable to open any word documents.  Can you tell me how to fix it?

    The procedure for Office 365\Word 2013 would be the same as for Word 2010.

    If that does not help, if you send me one of the documents, I will check to see if it is the document itself or perhaps something else on your system.
