Congratulations to solving this problem go to  Christopher Kush’ s post  on May 20, 2013.

I had to go back to the task manager and also stop onenotem.exe for it to work.  This all started two weeks ago when a onenote update would not install.  Christopher, you deserve a big "Thanks" for your suggestion.

Carsten,

Try opening task manger, go to services tab, scroll down to "Spooler" and stop the service. After the update installs, start the service again. Good luck!

Christopher

Spooler stop worked for me also. I tried to install this KB2760600 update for more that 10 times directly from windows update or during update&restart. Not just the installation never ended but also keep the pc blocked from restarting/shutdown. I had to use restart button to stop the process.

Using Spooler stop solved the problem in less than 2 min. Thanks Christopher.

Tried the Fix IT (Microsoft) you mentioned and tired the office 2010 repair program with install disk and with the computer.  Neither one would repair.  Just hung up.  Will try to remove program next.  Will let you know if the removal of program works.  Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks

    Thank you for the reply.

    Which fixit did you use?

Repair Office 2013 installation from Control Panel > Programs and Features list then try to install the update and verify the status.

You may refer to article mentioned below on how to repair Office 2010.

I tried the clean boot, and manually downloaded the update.  It still hangs up during the install and will not complete.  I also tried Fix It, and the automatic program that microsoft recommended in the troubleshooting process.   When shutting down during reboot it says installing update 1 of 1 and will not complete and I have to do a manual reboot to get out of it.   What can I try next?  Am I the only one to have trouble with the One Note Update?

    Thank you,
