Excel 2013 - Home Key - function changed

The "home key" used to take my cursor to the 1st box in the row.

"Control + Home" would take it to the 1st row, top column.

Suddenly, the home key only highlights adjacent keys instead of going back to the 1st column.

What the heck has happened, and how can I get it back the way it used to be???

(This is happening on my MS Surface Pro 4, but not on my laptop.)

Hi Fred,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I would like to know if there were any updates installed.

Is the issue on all the Excel documents or only few documents?

Let us try to repair Office from the control panel and check if it helps.

https://support.office.com/en-US/Article/Repair-an-Office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b

Try opening Excel in safe mode and check.

To do that, close Excel. Let us type in ‘Run’ in the search bar next to start button, click on the 'run' icon that appears – in the 'Run window' type in Excel /safe and hit ok. (Note: There is a space between Excel and /).

If the application works fine safe mode, try disabling the add ins for the application and check the result,

Click the File tab.

Go to Options.

Click Add-ins.

In the Manage section, select COM Add-ins and click on Go.

Now uncheck the Add-ins and click on OK.

If issue persist, let us disable the disable the anti-virus and check.

Hope this information helps you. Please let us know if you need additional information.

Thank you.
