Changes made in autoformating and auto- format do not stay after word is closed

I made some changes in auto-format, autoformating as you type and spelling in Word. As long as I was in Word, no matter how many documents I created the changes remained. But after I closed the Word and opened a new document, I had to make the changes in the auto format, automormating as you type etc all over again. I never had this problem before. But three days back , I got a problem with Word, it started running only when I run it as an administrator. I installed the Word again, but the problem persists. I have to run it as an administrator, it then opens winword.exe, asks a question whether I will allow it to make changes to my computer, I click OK, then Word opens , I can create documents, make changes to auto- format, autoformatting as you type etc. But after I close the Word and open it again and I open a new document I see the changes I had made to auto-format, autoformating as you type are no longer there. Why is this happening? I have Word  2000. I know it is old. But I like it and it is very expensive to buy new Word.

How do I solve the problem mentioned above? Please help.

Thanks.

    Thanks.

I was working fine till last week.

I would like to do system restore , but I have not created system restore points. I looked in the system restore and there are no automatic restore points. When I had windows 8 and XP the system used to create restore points. What happens in Windows 10? Are there any system restore points in Windows 10 ? If the system does create restore points automatically, where does one see those points? Because I do not see them. If I can restore the system to a week back , I will not have any problem with word. Please let me know where can I find System Restore point in Windows 10 when they are not created by me.

Word 2010 may not be (fully) supported on Windows 10, which explains why things don't work properly.

However, you should try repairing Office, if you haven't already done so.

I have given you the extent of my knowledge. It would help others in answering your question to know which version of Word you are using.

One thing you can do with these settings is record a macro as you set them them. Save your changes and end the macro recording. Name the macro Autoexec and save it in your normal template (the default). This will reset these setting every time you start Word. This is a workaround, not a cure.

How do I make sure that the changes stay in the registry? I have no idea.

What keys or data should I change in the registry and how to change it?

    Can you please help?

    Sincerely,

    SDixit

This is not necessarily going to be solved by buying a new Word, although Word 2000 is showing its age.

It is not only expensive to buy a new version of Word but you'll end up spending a fair amount of time relearning it.

This information is stored in the registry and something is blocking these changes.

What exactly does the Data Key in the Registry Store?

You should not have to be running Word in Administrator mode. Focus on that problem. If you fix it, chances are good that you'll be able to save your changes to the registry as well.
