Cannot Activate Office 2007

I've installed Office 2007 Professional from a retail box on same hardware after a fresh installation of Windows. It will. It activate over the phone and the key it generates for telephone activation is invalid. I've spoken to a real person who tells me my key is an MSDN key and has been used too many times and has been blocked. It's a genuine copy CD so I cannot understand why Microsoft would think it's MSDN.

What can I do from here? It needs to be reset or something at Microsofts side.

If you purchased a retail boxed copy of Office 2007 and now you are being told by the Activation Center that the product key included with the package is an MSDN key that has been blocked for abuse, then it's very likely you have a counterfeit copy of Office 2007.

Microsoft does have a Complimentary Replacement Program that will replace the counterfeit product for free.  See this recent post for an example:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office\_2010-office\_install/counterfeit-microsoft-office-2010-professional-dvd/39077f03-3b0c-4549-ba10-8e594cb1cd52

To send in a counterfeit report and your counterfeit product for a free replacement, go to the Microsoft "How To Tell" page and look for the "Report Counterfeit" links to start a report.  It usually takes a good 4-6 weeks for the process to work.  In the meantime you can use the free Office Web Apps as a stopgap measure.

If you decide to send in the report, please be sure to post back later when you get your free replacement to let others now how the process went for you.
