Graphical Indicators will not update automatically in MS Project 2013 Professional

All,

For some reason, my graphical indicators will not automatically update and I don't know why.

1. Scheduled was baselined today.

2.  Renamed Duration3 to "Progress."

3.  Entered formula Finish Variance using the Field drop down menu.

4.  Clicked ok and identified Graphical Indicators:

5. Clicked ok and showed the "Progress" column in my Gantt Chart View.  All turned green with a '0' day value since the schedule was just baselined and no changes had been made.

The only way I can get my graphical indicators to update is if I open back up the formula box (step 3), do nothing, and then click ok.  I've tried saving, closing the file, reopening, etc.  I don't know what I am doing wrong.  Can you please help?

Thank you!

You are more than welcome for the help, my friend.  To make sure you have automatic calculation enabled in your copy of Microsoft Project, click File > Options > Schedule and then scroll down to the bottom of the page.  Make sure the On option is selected in the Calculation section and click the OK button.  Hope this helps.

Pressing F9 worked, thank you.  The graphical indicators used to change automatically after I made a change, so I'm not sure what happened that they don't anymore.

I will mark your response directly above as the answer in case nothing else can be tried at this point.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you press the F9 function key to manually recalculate the project?  Do the graphical indicators update correctly?  Please let us know and we will try to help you.

That is correct.  If I update the schedule after it is baselined, the graphical indicators do not update automatically unless I open the formula box under the custom fields dialog box (see step 3 above), do nothing, and then click ok.

Regarding the second question, that is also correct.  If I show the "Finish Variance" field in my current view, I do see a variance > 0 for the task that I just changed, but the graphical indicator remains at green instead of automatically changing to yellow.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't understand.  If you just baselined the file then the Finish Variance = 0 unless you have updated the schedule.

If you add the Finish Variance field to the view - do you see variance > 0?
