overlapping tracked changes across document versions

Hi

I hope I word this such that it is easy for everyone to understand.

I need to maintain the changes over many versions of a document. There may be an insertion in the earlier version which later is removed (partly or wholly) in the later version. Currently deleting the portion in tracked changes mode simply remove the earlier insertion with no trace.

Now I have to use multiple user account (personal and work) so that both changes (earlier insertion and subsequent deletion) appear in the tracked document. Is there any way to do this using a single account -such that tracked changes is differentiated by version instead of by author?

Thank you.

Note: even though I have to specify Win7 as the OS, i believe it is common accross OSes.

AFAIK this may not be possible in Word.

But see if this article is of any help

thank you but that page does not have anything on the problem

just to be clear on the query, currently i manage to get the below only by using two different user accounts. otherwise the deleted part in the middle is simply removed without trace that it was inserted earlier. it would be very helpful if someone can show how to achieve as below without the need for multiple user account. it is too troublesome to keep switching accounts and the colour difference have little meaning with regard to the revision sequence.
