Can't open Excel Workbook using Excel Android app.

Hi there,

I have an excel workbook that I use on my PC.

I am using Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and the workbook is saved as .xlsx.

I want to be able to view that workbook on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 using the Excel app.

However, whenever I try to open this workbook, I get the error message:

Can't open file.

This version of Microsoft Excel can't open workbooks with:

·         Scripts

·         ActiveX controls

As far as I know, my workbook doesn't contain any of those.

How I can search for Scripts and ActiveX controls in my workbook and remove them?

Many Thanks

Cheri

Cheri,

I think when you save your excel file you have a choice as to which file format you save it. I'm having the same problem. I'm going to try saving the file as an .xls rather than an .xlsx.  I wonder if we have the same problem opening up a word doc that is .docx. Rather than .doc?

I am currently using Office suite but what I wanted to know is:

How do I search for and remove scripts or ActiveX controls in my Excel Workbook?

    Kind Regards

    Cheri

Get Office Suite this will run activex and if microsoft can't be bothered to make their own version work then simply do not use it!

    Hello there,

    Thank you for replying.

I realise that workbooks containing Scripts or ActiveX controls cannot be opened with the Excel Android app.

What I wanted to know is, how can I check if my workbook contains Scripts or ActiveX controls and how do I remove them?

What is a script or ActiveX control?

I don't know what they are, so I don't know how I can be using them in my workbook

My workbook is just a list of items and some basic calculations.

    Please advise

    Cheri
