Increase/Decrease Decimal Places Mac 2016

Hello,

I have always set up [for quite a few years now] a 'customised keyboard shortcut' for increasing and decreasing decimal places. That is 1.0135 (increase = 1.01350, decrease = 1.014 and so on). It is a strictly a format arrangement; exactly the same as the mouse click icons that exist for increase/decrease decimal places, but on the keyboard.

I use 'command + D' for decrease, 'command + J' for increase. As far as I know these are fairly common practice; at least in Sydney and in the analyst/accounting profession.

Can you please advise the steps of how I can set this up on excel for Mac 2016? I have tried many searches and played around for a few hours with no luck.

Many thanks,

Daniel

Unfortunately, the program no longer provides the capability to assign custom keyboard shortcuts. I guess, in their infinite wisdom & sensitivity to the needs of their users, Microsoft decided that if the Windows folks don't have it Mac folks don't need it. Voice your opinion by using the ☺︎ at the right end of the Ribbon. Also, you can cast a VOTE for an existing request or submit a new one at Excel for Mac

Microsoft now suggests using the OS X facility to create keyboard shortcuts. What they failed to consider [or chose to ignore] is that the OS X facility only can be used for commands which explicitly appear in the menu structure of a program. It's useless for others, such as these, which are not in the menus.

Thank you Bob. Incredible. Why they would change something so useful.. especially when it seems something so simple to keep in the code.

I have voted on the forum that you linked and I will send in a comment with the :( button through my excel. Hopefully everyone sends feedback who comes past here so that microsoft change it back.

Well, I can't see them leaving customised keyboards out for very long. Until then, this is impacting me enough to move back to 2011 for a while. It is driving me nuts.

If they decide to go through OS X, they really need to provide a list of the full 'menu' and make that available to us. As long as the method works I will be a happy customer.

    Regards,

    Daniel
