Autodiscover doesn't resolve users

hi,

i have an autodiscover problem. i have removed all the scp references from the autodiscover. so now it only refers to 2 things:

https://mydomain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml & https://autodiscover.mydomain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

this is great, i have my internal & external dns records point from autodiscover.mydomain.com to autodiscover.outlook.com.

so to me all seems great. however when i try let a new user login on a new computer & start outlook it get's stuck on the auto account setup page. it doesn't fill anything in or gives any errors.

if i look @ my personal outlook (who i have configured and is working before changing the autodiscover) if i run the test emailconfiguration i get these:

it's in dutch so i will translate some bits: starten = start. mislukt = failed. omleiden = redirect. geslaagd = succes.

i think i shouldn't get any failed so that's strange to me.

yes indeed that's what i mean,. it doesn't resolve automatically as your screenshot shows.

when i manually put in the email and password it will go past established network connection and ask for my credentials but will hang & eventually give the fault in the screenshot. but i think if we can fix the autodiscover this part will also start working.

    hi wesley,

according to the screenshot you provided above, the outlook client could be redirected to the https://autodisvcover-s.outlook.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml and got the configuration information successfully. it is a correct process for an exchange online mailbox to get the configuration info.

therefore, to analyze the issue, i’d like to confirm some details:

    1. i have checked the domain name you provided in the screenshot above, it is a federated domain and no hybrid configured in your organization. is it correct? however, as you mentioned, you have changed dns records point from autodiscover.mydomain.com to autodiscover.outlook.com, i'd like to confirm whether you have on-premise exchange server deployed before and now decommissioned?
    2. is this machine joined domain or an external computer? have you check whether the issue appears on both domain-joined machine and external devices?
    3. when configuring an account on the outlook with autodiscover, do you stuck on the third step as the following screenshot shows?

    1. please access the url https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/, and run the outlook connectivity test, if you get a result with error, please provide the detailed information to us.

    hi wesleyde,

i’m a bit confused with the third point.

do you mean you cannot get the email address automatically as the following screenshot shows?

    ![](http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=850f923a-9e15-4850-acda-22add728057f)

if you fill in the email address and password manually, could you move further?

    regards,

    frank

    1. indeed it's not a hybrid since this is a exchange 2007, we still have this server deployed. but as i seaid no scp is referenced to this old server.
    2. the machine is domain joined i will test tonight if external computers have the same problem (i don't think so)
    3. no i get stuck here:
