Orange dots

Question

In my word there are orange dots showing instead of the icons. This happens for all of the icons but specific examples are icons like 'align text", "bold, inserting bullet points. And then along with these orange dots, my word is not working properly, it always shuts down and says it is not responding, I have a hard time opening downloads. How do I fix what is happening?

1. Does it only happen to Microsoft Word? You may also check-out the rest of the applications that came with Office.
2. Were there any changes (e.g. hardware, installation of apps, update, etc.) made on your computer prior to the issue?
3. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall Office as suggested on this article?
