Problem Installing Language Accessory Pack for Office 2016 stand-alone: problem remains after uninstallation of older Office versions

As recommended: We uninstalled all our Office versions (2013, 2016 and Frontpage 2003), from our Windows 7 computer in order to remove the Windows Installer version of Office. Then, we re-installed Office 2016. However, the problem remains. Please help!

This is the persistent error message:

"Office installed using Click-to-Run and Window Installer on same computer isn't supported You'll get this error message if you try to install an Office 365 product or a standalone Office 2013 or Office 2016 application (like Visio, Project, Skype for Business, or OneDrive for Business) while you have 2013 or 2016 version of Microsoft Office Professional Plus or the 2013 or 2016 version of Microsoft Office Standard already installed on your computer. Error when trying to install Click-to-Run over MSI install Click-to-Run is the technology used to install Office 365 subscription and most other Office 2013 and Office 2016 products. Windows Installer technology (MSI) is used to install the volume license editions of Office, like Microsoft Office Professional Plus and Microsoft Office Standard. Unfortunately, you can't have Office products of the same version (like 2013 or 2016) that use two different installation technologies installed on the same computer. This also applies to standalone applications like Visio, Project, Skype for Business, or OneDrive for Business. You also can't have two different versions of Click-to-Run applications on the same computer. For example, you can't have Office 2013 and Office 2016 applications installed using Click-to-Run on the same computer. For more information, please see "We need to remove some older apps" error. To fix this problem, follow the steps in Uninstall Office 2013, Office 2016, or Office 365 from a Windows computer to remove the Windows Installer version of Office. Then, retry the installation of Office you were doing when you got the error message. Unless you've decided to stay with the Windows Installer version of Office and not install the Office 365 product."

    I got the same issue.

I've installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016, and I want to install the PORTUGUESE (Portugal) proofing tools to have the dictionaries and spell checker installed.

How we can manage this issue?

I was having the issue reported here.

I've managed to fix it by installing Microsoft Office Proofing Tools Kit Compilation 2016

    Hello Maxwell Joseph,

    Thanks for your detailed instructions.

I have accurately followed them: using fix it (that program said to be unsuccessful), followed by manual uninstall.

Then I downloaded and installed Office Professional Plus 2016 again, and tried to install the Language Accessory pack for Office 2016.

It failed again, now however for another reason.

According to the error message, I seem to have installed Office 2016 using Windows Installer:

    My questions:

    • Am I right to conclude that Office 2016 uses Installer and the Language packs use Click2Run?
    • Is there a way-out?

I have one further question regarding activation. The retailer told us that on un-installation Office 2016 the activation will automatically be undone. Is this true?

    Please let me know!

    Sincerely yours,

    Wybe

Not sure if the language pack is the same as proofing tools.

But my solution was to open the proofingtools.exe  with 7-zip. There are 5 files inside.

Double click the .msi file. After that the proofing tools were installed.

    Hello Maxwell Joseph,

    You didn't react anymore -it's a pity.

At the end MS is responsible for its non-functioning products.

And the damage done to our company is growing day by day ......

But I cannot find an entrance to this Kafka - organization.

Can you - or anybody else- inform me how and where I'm supposed to address Microsoft directly for complaint and support?

    Regards,

    Wybe
