One Note Desktop Version on Surface Pro

Hello,

I am having an impossible time accessing the desktop version of One Note on my surface pro. When I go into my apps and select it the version that only has this top ribbon is what opens.

The ribbon I prefer to work with is this one as it has more options that I frequently need. Currently can only get these options when I am online.

The app also just lists out all the different notebooks in somewhat of a mess unlike the desktop version.

The other forums I have read say you have to go to One Note and download the desktop version, however, when I go to One Note, it doesn't give me an option to download, just to open. See below.

My temporary solution has just been to work on the online version that gives me the options and organizes the pages better, but there has to be a way for me to access the full version on an app on my surface so I can work offline too.

My current version on the app is 17.6366.43091.0

Any thoughts/ideas???

Thank you!!

Hello,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office community.

I understand your concern and will help you.

I appreciate your efforts in providing screenshot of your issue.

The OneNote version that you are using offline is a free version that is available in Windows store. This version of OneNote has limited options and features when compared to OneNote web application and Office OneNote.

When you go to OneNote.com it gives an option to open instead of download because you have OneNote already installed. This free OneNote is the same that is available through Windows store.

If you want to use OneNote with full features offline, you need buy one of the Office product in the following link which comes along with other Office application like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.

Hope it helps. If you have any other quires related to Office products, feel free to post.

Thank you.

Every version of MS Office 2016 (or 2010, 2013) includes the "full" desktop OneNote. Just open your Start Menu, show all Apps and look for "OneNote 2016" (instead of the App which is just labeled "OneNote".

    Hi,

Which version of Office products do you need to have to get Onenote Desktop version?  I bought the bundle version with Office 365 Home.  Would that one have it?  If so, I'm not sure how to access it.

    Thanks!
