Hi Community,

I have a number of word documents that contains a hidden text. We use to hidden text as a guide to completing the document. So our team turn off the show paragraph mark when completing the document. However when i start to type, the show paragraph mark automatically enables. How can i turn this feature off, so i can continue to enter text with constantly turning off the show paragraph mark option.

Note this only happens when there is hidden type just before where i am typing. For example see below.

Step 1 enter the text that you want to hide. Note the Show paragraph mark is not enabled

Step 2. Hide the text. Note the Show paragraph mark is not enabled

Step 3. Start to type just before the hidden text and the hidden text appears with the show paragraph mark automatically enabled.

I know the hidden text appears when the show paragraph mark automatically is enabled. So how do i stop this from automatically enabling.

This was not a problem with the past Word Version

    Hi Neil,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I would like to know if the issue is with only one single document or is it with all other documents.

Meanwhile let us  start Word 2010 in the safe mode and check how it works.

To do that, close Word. Click on Start – All Programs – Accessories – Run, and in the open box type in Outlook /safe and hit ok. (Note: There is a space between Outlook and /).

If the application works fine safe mode, try disabling the add ins for the application and check the result,

    • Click the File tab.
    • Go to Options.
    • Click Add-ins.
    • Select or clear the options that you want.

I hope the above suggestion helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Harsha,

The instructions in your post had outlook opening in safe mode.

I replaced outlook with Winword. However the problem still exists. Yes it is also affecting other documents.

I also got other people to try on their pc who have a similar profile(Win7 and Word 2010) to mine and they have the same problem. I cant try with another version of word as i do not have one or can get access to one without paying extra(which i want to avoid).

    Thnaks

    Neil
