local recent documents only

I would like to restrict my recent documents in word to the local machine only.  Right now it is picking up documents from another computer on the same network.  Is there some way to turn that off?  I still want recent documents on the recent computer so limiting the number will not solve the problem.  I use office 365 on windows 10.

On your desktop computer, sign out of your Microsoft account. That should do the trick.

Also, it does not happen the other way around.  The surface does not pick up documents from the desktop.

That is not what is going on.  I have a surface that I use and store documents on one drive.  I also have a desktop.  So far, I have only opened one document on the desktop, but the list of recent documents shows all the documents used on the surface.  So it is picking up from one drive.  I need it to stop that.

It cannot be modified in the way you wish

If a none local doc is shown, its because that doc was opened on the local PC
