I have Office 365 home subscription for 5 computers. I have suucessfully installed on my laptop. I have shared my subscription with my son and it has installed successfully on his laptop. I have now also shared with my daughter. She has accepted and installed however the apps still say that the account is inactive. When we try to activate it gives this message "Install limit reached. You have installed Office on two computers ". My account still says i have two installs left and that I am sharing with two people. When I deactivate my sons subscription it activates on my daughters computer and vice versa. Please help resolve.

Log on to your MS Account, what does it show for product info?

On a PC in which Office is activated, Word, a blank doc, File>Account.........what does it say for product info?

    Thank you for reply.

I have tried the steps you have suggested, but still the problem persists.

It appears that my Microsoft account is only allowing two installs even though I have a subscription for 5 PCs.

The previous subscription was Office Personal which was limited to one install and no sharing. When it expired I purchased Office Home for 5 users. Is it possible that the third install I am attempting is being blocked somehow by my account as it is linking to my old subscription for only personal use.

    Hello Mahendra,

Thank you for your reply. I apologies for delay in response.

I suggest you to verify the installation details in My account page and verify if it shows the correct installed PC details. To verify please click on https://stores.office.com/myaccount/home.aspx, now click on Install and check the name of the PC to verify if they are correct.

Once done, please follow the below mentioned steps and check if it works.

    • On your My Account page, choose Share Office 365.
    • In the Share your subscription benefits section, under the person’s name (your daughter), choose Manage.
    • In the dialog box, do one of the following:

To send the invitation again, choose Email > Resend Invitation.

Now uninstall (this link) the Office application trace from the user’s PC (your daughter) and try installing the Office using the invitation link from email.

Hope this helps. Post back with the result for further assistance.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for your reply. I have tried opening using my account details as well as my daughters account. I have tried running as administrator. nothing works. It appears as if my account has a product key for five installs but the microsoft server is only allowing two installs. I have had a microsoft tech look at the problem remotely and was unable to assist.

    Awaiting your reply.

    Hello Mahendra,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.

Few more details would help us to provide a better response.

Did you tried activating the Office application using your Microsoft account or your daughter email account?

I suggest you to open Office application by right click on any Office application and then tap on ‘Run as Administrator’. Once the Office application opens, try activating it using your daughters Microsoft email account (one with which you shared the subscription). Check if the Office application gets activated.

Please post back with the information asked and result for further help.

    Thank you.
