Quick access toolbar icon buffer size

Excel 2016 has much larger spaces between the icons in the quick access toolbar. Before, I could fit all of my important icons on one line. Now it takes up two lines. The increased space doesn't increase functionality at all. This should be reverted, or at the very least, we should be given the option to use smaller spaces between icons.

One of the new default features on the QAT is Touch/Mouse Mode.

Setting it to Touch expands the size of the Ribbon icons to the same level as the QAT icons.

You would think that the Mouse mode would reset the QAT icons to a normal width.

I have 23 QAT icons and it's now a real pain to find a spot on the title bar that will allow me to reposition my spreadsheets.

How does one access the Touch/Mouse Mode?  I have tried but I can't seem to find it.

At the end of the QAT buttons there is a drop down.  On the list displayed there is the option to switch to touch mode.

If you have not already seen it, MS is pushing out a fix to 365 to return the QAT buttons to 2013 size.  If you don't already have it, just force a manual update of your 365.  I don't know if the fix applies to standalone 2016 also.

As well, in some of the questions, people noted that switching from Mouse to Touch to Mouse mode does not always return the QAT buttons to original Mouse size.  This next link has a potential simple fix:
