F2 in Excel Changing Volume

Hello;

My brand new DELL laptop with WINDOWS 10 and EXCEL 2016 has both the F-Keys and the Fn-Key.

So in EXCEL this is how it usually and is suppose to work:

Press the F2-Key to edit a cell - INSTEAD it is changing the volume which is suppose to be an Fn+F2

So right now in EXCEL to edit a cell I have to press BOTH the Fn-Key AND the F2-Key

How does one fix this?

What is going on here?

Thanks!

Hello Ressa,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

Let's try following steps and check if it helps.

  1. Type Windows Mobility Center on the search area and click on it to open.
  2. You should find it set to Multimedia keys & can select Function keys instead.  The settings will revert to their default when you restart the PC.

If issue still persists I suggest you to contact computer manufacturer to help you better.

If you have any questions related to Office products, you can always reply and I’ll be happy to assist you.

Thank you.

    Had the same issue.

Fixed it by pressing Fn and Esc at the same time. That de-activated the FnLk (the need to keep Fn pressed to use F2 to edit formula).

    Hope this helps.

    R.

I had same issue in mobility centre. Solved it...pres Fn key (beside Control key) at same time as F2 and then it functions like F2 used to on older versions
