old msgraph needed

I have several word documents that have charts in them created with older versions of word (2007/2003).

I installed 2010 and now when I double click them to edit, they actual chart goes to about half size but the place holder is large.

I don't want to use the excel functions because the charts need to be updated through another 3rd party program.

So.  I have to keep the charts via msgraph.   But, when I double click the chart (or they get opened up by the 3rd party software)  they actual plot shrinks to about half size and the place holder is same or larger.

Any ideas on settings or preferences that would prevent the graph plots from resizing when double clicked?

Thanks

OK, tried but didn't solve my problem.

When I format (or don't format) as soon as it gets opened and closed it changes size within the placeholder.  I've tried changing size, percentage , lock aspect, etc.

    prior:

after formating (and opening then closing)

the graph shrinks and a ton of white space.  Any re-sizing, etc just changes the size of the outer place holder and not graph inside.

Excellent, I'll try that and see if I can go forward.

I was only getting this when I followed your instructions, but realized it was in a table.  If I copied and pasted outside the table I finally got the format object.

I'll change and go forward with the 3rd party program inputs, and see what happens.

It appears that you have double clicked on the graph which results in this when you right click

whereas, if you just click once, and then right click, you should get:

If you select the graph and then right click and then click on Format Object, you can use the Size tab on the Format Object dialog to re-size the chart.

After re-sizing a graph in a document, created Word 2003 and opened in Word 2010 here, the size of the graph does not change when double clicking on it.
