Hi.

I have a list of dates with data, some dates are missing. I don't want my chart to display the missing dates. Essentially, I want to do this: http://www.myonlinetraininghub.com/skip-dates-in-excel-chart-axis

It seems the instructions to do this differ for every Excel version and I can't figure out how to do it in 2016.

Thanks

The instructions are correct in that link. You will have to make it Text. That article is for older Excel version. Here is snap from Excel 2013 which should be valid for Excel 2016 also.

Right click on x axis > Format Axis >Choose Text Axis

Here's what it looks like in 2016. The steps are the same. Format the X axis and select "Text axis", as Vijay suggests.

This worked. I was using a scatter chart but it looks like the option isn't available which is why I didn't see it. Guess I will have to use column.

    Thanks!

The scatter chart has a numeric X axis, which cannot be set to Text. But you can use a line chart instead of a scatter, set the x axis to text and format the data markers and lines as desired.
