Word 2016 - Document Information Panel Missing

Hi,

Is the document information panel still available in Word 2016?

I have recently upgraded from 2013 and used File > Info > Properties > Show Document Panel to display the panel in Word 2013.

It is no longer there in Word 2016. I need it to view/update SharePoint library metadata in a Word document.

Thanks

There can be no question about it: the document information panel needs to be undeprecated and quick.

Most of our document flows crucially depend on users updating the status of their document. The document information panel made sure they did this, because it was staring them in the face. Now it's all backstage.

Why ever did Microsoft do this?

Thank you for sharing, I thought I was going crazy. You saved me a full reinstall, new site in SharePoint creation, and hours searching for an answer.

Definitely Microsoft needs to be more consistent in the way they are handling the way their Office/SharePoint products are evolving. We put a lot of effort developing the Document Information Panels in InfoPath, and now all that work is in the trash can.
