Hi,

https://products.office.com/en/professional indicates "The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available." I wanted to use the IFS function in Excel. Do I need to wait and buy the whole office pro. plus package again to have this function? I do not quite understand what is meant by buying the whole again?

    Update:

After updating my Office 365 Home to version 16.0.6568.2025, the IFS function is available.

Based on  Mrs. Richardson's Feb 10 post, I signed up for Office 365 Home yesterday and installed the latest version of Excel, 160.0.7070.2028, which is a later version than hers. The IFS function does NOT work in that version.  I spent 2 hours on the phone with Microsoft, being passed around from team to team only to be told that the IFS function was available only to developers and might never be released to real users.

    Help!

    Hi Tunga,

    thanks for the link.

I have Office 365 Home. I tried to reproduce the first example from the link with Excel 2016 which didn't work. Then I tried the same with Excel Online which worked like a charm.

After downloading the file to my Desktop and opening it with Excel 2016, the results are still shown but in the Formula Bar the function was replaced by **=_xlfn.IFS()**When clicking enter in the Formula Bar the results are replaced by #NAME?

According to the website it should also work with the latest version of Office 365, which I have. But it doesn't work.

Thanks for this reply. The IFS function: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/IFS-function-36329a26-37b2-467c-972b-4a39bd951d45?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

Will I ever be able to get this function without buying the new version? When I check the functions, I do not see a IFS function in the list of functions in Excel.

    Hi Tunga,

https://products.office.com/en/professional indicates "The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available."

with this is meant that you will not automatically get Office 2017, 2018 or whatever the next version will be called. When you have an Office 365 subscription you will get it. Like with Office 2013:

People who bought Office Professional 2013 will not automatically get Office Professional 2016, they'll have to buy it. People who have an Office 365 subscription get an update to Office 2016 automatically.

You will get software updates for Office Professional 2016, to get the latest build of it.

What do you mean with IFS function? The If function:  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/IF-function-69aed7c9-4e8a-4755-a9bc-aa8bbff73be2 ?
