Style Pane Issues

After upgrading to Office 2016 from 365, the sidebar style pane has become dysfunctional.  If I place my cursor on a line and select a style from the Style pane, it jumps the highlighted selection to another style and applies that style.  For example, if I place my cursor in a single sentence paragraph and select Normal, the cursor jumps to an indented bullet and applies that style.  If I click Normal again, it selects another style and applies it.  This continues randomly with each click on Normal or any other style.  [This isn't just an issue with Normal style].

I can use the style panel in the ribbon with no issues, but it isn't as easy to view and use.  Please advise.

Thanks,

David

I can't access the file. I guess the problem is that I can't access to the specific SharePoint site where it resides. No one outside of your organization would have such access, of course.

Could you add the file to a private OneDrive (or perhaps Dropbox) account instead?

Here is a shared link to a document template with the styles I use for company business and documentation.  When I apply this template to a Word 2016 document and pin the Style Pane to the side of the document area, selecting a style to apply to text will apply another style.  E.g., clicking on 'normal' with the cursor in a paragraph will jump to another style, like one of the bullets.  Clicking again will select another style.

If I use the style section in the ribbon bar, the selections apply correctly.

Thanks for any help you can give.

My first thought is that this is caused by a virus or a poorly designed add-in. But I think other possibilities must be considered as well. First of all, what do you mean by "style sheet"? A document template? If you are seeing this with specific documents, for example documents based on a particular template, could you share one of them? You can upload the file to OneDrive, make it public and post a link in this thread.

This failed to resolve the issue.  I discovered that if I only use the default 'Normal' style sheet things work fine.  Anytime I use a Style Sheet I've created it creates the random style selection/jumping problem.

These style sheets worked fine in 2013, but not in 2016.

    Anyone else experiencing this issue?
