I have an MDB database that I think was created with 97 version which I have continued to use without issue through my last 2010 version of Access. I just recently upgraded to Access 2016 and now I can't open the file'

I get the following "Run time Error 29070" then "Your >>> database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file 'MSCal.ocx' version 7.0

I did not create this database and the person that did is not available to help.

What should I do?

Hi. I guess if you want to continue using the same file, you'll have to install the active X file and register it. Just a thought...

The MScal.ocx is the old ActiveX calendar control used in older versions of Access. It is no longer supported nor necessary. You will need to remove the control form all forms that is embedded into and then remove the Reference to it.

Once this is done I would update the mdb to accdb format.
