Lync 2013 Basic won't uninstall

Question

I downloaded Lync 2013 Basic on my home laptop (Acer Aspire One, using Windows 7). It won't work, keeps saying "server unavailable." I tried to uninstall by going to the control panel, selecting Lync, and clicking Uninstall. It starts to do it and then hangs... for.ev.er...  It will not uninstall. I have tried it several times, same problem every time. Please tell me how to get it off my laptop!
